A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF A LONDON PRIEST

Ministry brings with it so many challenges, requiring immense faith and trust in God's will.
The 'job spec' is extraordinarily broad, from providing spiritual leadership to a middle-aged father dying of cancer, to folding leaflets and worrying about the flooded church basement.
Ministry is all about connecting with people, with anyone and everyone in the Parish, including at their soaring highs and deepest lows.
Ministry provides opportunities to make a profound difference, especially to those in need.
Prayer is a way of life...at all times, in all places, and asking for all manner of things (maybe just for 'a good meeting').
At times it's a lonely job.
I was struck by the difference that music makes to Kit's ministry.
Success should not just be measured by church attendance figures; there are so many other ways that ministry makes a difference in local communities.
'You don't do this for the money'; at times in his career Kit has used this calculator to stay in budget for their weekly shop.
The parish priest is the Church of England's local 'foot soldier' who needs to represent with confidence and inspiration an organisation wrestling with multiple challenges.
